Navigating parenthood’s unpredictability has taught me a few things about what’s truly essential for outings with Finn and Maggie.
When it came to packing for both a newborn and a toddler, I learned that less is definitely not more. From surprise nappy blowouts to constant snack demands, preparation is key.
For the Newborn
When Maggie was a newborn, I made sure to pack everything from my breast pump and baby bottles to toys and spare outfits. For those less-than-fun nappy changes on the go, I carried plenty of nappies, wipes, and nappy rash cream. Thankfully, my Selby Eco Changing Bag comes with a changing mat, making on-the-go changes a breeze. The thermo insulated bottle holders were also great for keeping milk cool or warm depending on your requirements, and the waterproof compartment is a saviour for keeping any wet or soiled clothes separate and away from everything else!
For the Toddler
With Finn potty training when Maggie was a newborn, I always had plenty of spare clothes, a portable potty, and lots of snacks. Toys, especially car toys and a fidget toy, were great distractions. I also packed plasters for inevitable falls and Calpol, which was a must-have for every outing – you never know when you might need it.
For Myself
My personal must-haves are always with me: water, snacks, keys, wallet, phone etc.
